A nook to get started.
Install Nookins, meet your first helper, and bring it into one conversation at a time.
Documentation for Nookins 0.42.1-alpha.1 · Public alpha
Nookins runs purpose-built AI helpers, each with its own identity, memory, workspace, and permissions. The public alpha is owner-operated software for technically comfortable users, not a hosted signup service.
Your first Nookin
- Install into a fresh home. The public installer targets Linux x86_64 with glibc 2.39 or later.
- Sign in and get a local reply. Test in the terminal before connecting messaging.
- Give your Nookins their roles. Review names, instructions, and permissions.
- Connect one conversation. Confirm one reply, then check again after a restart.
Already running a native Nookins installation? Update it in place. You do not need to recreate your agents.
Coming from Ward
Keep the original home and backups. Whole-install Ward migration is retired. You can recreate selected agent definitions and reviewed text in a fresh Nookins home; databases, WhatsApp history, and linked-device sessions are not part of that procedure. Use Move from Ward for the complete procedure and a copyable AI prompt.
When something needs a hand
Check a problem, read the security boundaries, or send feedback. Include your version, operating system, and the first failing command. Leave out secrets and private messages.
Make the setup your own

- MCP, hooks and skills: connect tools and reusable procedures.
- Automations: respond to events with bounded work.
- Chat commands and command-line reference: find exact commands and arguments.
- Run, back up and recover: operate your installation day to day.
